Freedom From Self-Condemnation

On October 26, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

“If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 1 John 3:20 (NIV)

God is able to free us from everything, even self-condemnation.

Our freedom is always found in the truth of His Word!

The Names Of Washington, Luther and Jesus

On October 24, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

The names of Martin Luther and George Washington may have some honor but they do not have power or authority. Why?  It is because they no longer live.   The name of Jesus has honor, power and authority.  He lives!

“ I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore…”

~ Revelation 1:18

Your Own Relationship With The Father

On October 2, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

As a father loves all of his children but has a unique and different relationship with each one, so I believe the same is true with our Heavenly Father.  He loves all of his children but each relationship is special. We should strive to develop our own unique relationship with God through the saving work of Christ Jesus and not try to make ours like someone else’s.

Philippians 2:12-13   (ASV)

“So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.”

Who Are You?

On October 1, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

It’s only when we believe what God says about us more than what we think about ourselves do we start to become who we were created to be.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (Amplified)
Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new
creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual
condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

Ephesians 2:10 (Amplified)
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus,
[born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned
beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we
should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready
for us to live].

Conform To The Word

On September 29, 2011, in Marriage, by Tim Dumas

“So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” ~ Ephesians 5:33

The Word of God does not change to fit us.  We change to fit it!

Husbands, it does not matter how mad you are at your wife.  Love her!
Wives, it does not matter if your husband has been an idiot.  Respect him!

Going To The Doctor, Is It A Lack Of Faith?

On September 28, 2011, in Healing, by Tim Dumas

Some have taught and some have believed that seeing a doctor or taking medicine is showing a lack of faith.  If you study the Word, you can see going to a doctor and taking medicine is actually Biblical!

Look at the words of Jesus.  He said sick people need a doctor!

Matthew 9:12   “But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that
be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”

Mark 2:17  “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are
whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call
the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Luke 5:31  “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need
not a physician; but they that are sick.”

Yes, he was talking about a spiritual truth
but he used a natural or ordinary truth to explain it.

Is God A Healing God?

On September 20, 2011, in Healing, by Tim Dumas

Is God a healing God?

To answer this question should we consider anything except what God has said about himself?

Is his Word alone sufficient?

For me it is.

Exodus 15:26 …for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Need Help Finding Your Place?

On September 17, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

Are you struggling to find your place?  Are you longing to find God’s plan for you?  God’s Word has the answer.

“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” Romans 8:29 (NLT)

God’s plan for each of us is to be like Jesus.

Our place, your place is found in the family of God.

The Most Important Thing To Teach Our Children

On September 17, 2011, in Parenting, by Tim Dumas

What are the most important things we are to teach our children? If we base our response to this question on the words of Jesus then there answer is clear.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)

Love God.  Love Others.

The best way to teach our children is to tell them the truth, then model it for them.

Faith

On September 12, 2011, in Life, by Tim Dumas

With out faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6 Amp 6But without faith it is impossible to
please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must
[necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who
earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

What is Faith

Hebrews 11:1 Amp 1NOW FAITH is the assurance (the
confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof
of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving
as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Where does Faith Come From

1.   Faith Comes from
Hearing

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God.

2. He has Given Us Faith

Romans 12:3 3For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given
to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more
highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own
importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the
degree of faith apportioned by God to him.

Faith starts where the will of God is known.

1 John 5:13-15

These things have I written unto you that believe on the
name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye
may believe on the name of the Son of God.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any
thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Ask in Faith

James 1:5-7 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him
ask of [a]the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly,
without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.  Only it must be in faith that he asks with no
wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates,
doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither
and tossed by the wind.  For truly, let
not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the
Lord,
